MAKE A MOVIE THAT MATTERS!

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Tromsø in the Arctic Circle, where NUFF Global is alive and well.

Here is an update on  Global Changes and Youth.

The films are being screened all over the world. Some in particular - "The Fridge" for example - have won festivals and screened from Los Angeles to Tokyo to the UNFCCC in Bali 2007! Thanks to You and the entire NUFF community, all NUFF Global  films have contributed their share to the new global youth media movement which increasingly creates awareness, participation and action for positive change.

NUFF Global joins millions of people all over the world celebrating a shift in the world's leadership. Change is now. Faced with enormous difficulties, but armed with hope, clean energy, youth, collaboration and technology, we continue to make the most out of limited resources, passion and commitment to our common cause. More and more websites support actions with films and events on climate change. Let's continue making more and more Movies that matter!

To celebrate Global Changes we are now ready to assemble "The NUFF Global Story", a fundraising e-book (anticipated in newsletter #9 ). The idea is to take a look behind the scenes of the NUFF Global filmmaking process. Imagine a DVD "back-stage" text, with images and texts, stories, experiences in making movies and media that still matters today.

Could you help? Please email back with a short paragraph or two about:

a) How did you get a team together?
b) what was different in creating this particular kind of "theme" based film?
c) where you a judge, a mentor, a producer, a filmmaker? Share your experience, your discoveries.
d) What ideas about NUFF Global do you have? What could be done in the future to link filmmaking, activism, media education, collective action and sustainable eco-change?

We are collecting contributions now! Reply asap.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

And the winner is...
The jury was impressed by the diversity and the thematic focus in the films presented. We have seen films from all parts of the world and all have qualities central to this competition. Most have very strong qualities and tell the audience something unique. The festival has, in this way, contributed to the production of a large number of films which we are sure will find their audiences all over the world.
